Jules Jones has created a small slice of excellent work. It is like one of those yummy chocolates that are left on the pillow of the beds in five star hotels: short, sweet, and well above average... There is a smooth wit about the story, a sensual pace despite the brevity. It makes Promises to Keep one of those pieces you will remember for a long time to come.

He always finds the library a good place to read. No one disturbs you, yet you are never alone. Until now that is. It is strange for a student to approach a college professor, unless he is after something. Higher grades for sex is something he has never done, even though this boy is very tempting
Promises to Keep is a short, yet gripping little story. The first paragraph of the story is a note that immediately hooked me and I just had to find out everything about the note. Who wrote it? Who read it? What does 'time for me to go home and die' mean?
This book gives a different slant on the vampire world. How do the undead survive in our technology crazed world, where every person's name is held on computer somewhere? Mr. Jones takes the vampire myth, and puts his own personal slant on it. I was surprised at the amount of characterization and emotion packed into a mere 27 pages. Raunchy sex and thought provoking questions make this a short story that will linger in my mind for a long time.
I believe that Jules Jones is going to be an up and coming author to look out for, and look forward to seeing more from her.
